I feel privileged to support my clients in their search for mental wellbeing, growth and development. I have been active in this health care discipline for over 35 years and have worked in various institutions, with many different target groups, including a primary care practice, rehabilitation centre, academic outpatients’ clinic, general hospitals, psychiatric care, child and youth care and ambulatory GGZ (mental health care). At present, I work from an independent psychotherapy practice.
Background
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist (www.bigregister.nl) .
My Master’s degrees are in Psychology (Radboud University Nijmegen) and in Philosophy (Erasmus University Rotterdam). The research for my PhD thesis I conducted at the medical faculty of Maastricht University.
In addition to my work in psychotherapy, I also use mindfulness-oriented therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. EMDR is also among the interventions I offer. Further, I make use of creative writing and drawing assignments.
Other methods used by me focus on existential questions, issues of meaningfulness and on spirituality. In this area I followed the Unity in Duality training (www.tarab-institute.org) and the Non-dual Coaching and Therapy training (www.artoflife.nu).
Mentorship
Apart from working with clients, I am also active as a mentor in educational trajectories. It is deeply rewarding to me to be able to share my knowledge and extensive experience with students and fellow-psychologists. I have been teaching bachelor’s and master’s students at Tilburg University for many years. In addition, I have been a teacher at Rino-zuid’s Post-Master’s programmes. On the work floor I have mentored many interns, mental health psychologists, psychotherapists and clinical psychologists.
I am happy to work with Post-Master’s psychologists wishing to engage in supervision or personal therapy.
I am a registered supervisor and personal psychotherapy therapist for the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy (www.vgct.nl).
